Closing ceremonies and Distinguished Instructor Award winner Dr. Gerald Walton - Teaching and Learning Week

Description: Join us for the close of Teaching and Learning Week 2021. This session will be led by Dr. Rhonda Koster (Deputy Provost) where we will congratulate all teaching award winners, hear a closing prayer from an Elder, and be addressed by Dr. Gerald Walton, this year's Distinguished Instructor Award Winner. Reflecting his own experiences and what he has learned from others, Gerald Walton argues that despite gains for social justice, campus spaces continue to be pervaded by unacknowledged privilege and social inequities. He describes himself as someone who “lives and works in privilege” in some ways but not in other ways. With examples from his own teaching, Gerald makes an argument for how privilege remains a mostly-untapped source of social equity, both on campus and elsewhere.

Please register through Libcal. The zoom link will be sent via email on the morning of the workshop.
