Embracing Critical and Creative AI Literacy in Lifelong Learning - OCULL

The OCULL Community of Practice is kicking off a new calendar events with Embracing Critical and Creative AI Literacy in Lifelong Learning!

The most common use of AI: Do stuff for me. We can have it summarise a text, edit an email, plan a trip. Some of these things can be really useful.

But what if we flip that model and prompt AI to prompt us? This experience, an interaction, is totally different. In this way, we can treat AI technologies as spaces to play and work within, spaces that facilitate active learning and creative thinking, spaces that put human intelligence in the centre.

This type of AI literacy balances critique and curiosity. It invites students and educators alike to use AI cautiously, humanely, and in-line with both academic integrity and good learning practice.

Join Josh Thorpe, author of AI for Students and Academic Skills Advisor at University of Stirling, for a discussion that aims to give participants at least one way to use gen AI to think more, not less, in learning.
