Secrets of Advanced Database Searching in Health Sciences

Bring your questions, frustrations, examples to this session on advanced search skills. We will share our tips for effective database searching. Whether you are wondering how you could have done it better, you are in the middle of an extensive literature search or you are planning to research an in-depth topic, this session can help.

The focus will be on searching health sciences databases including CINAHL, PsycInfo, PubMed/Medline and Embase.

Participants will learn about:

  • search syntax
  • subject headings
  • field searching
  • saving results and search strategies
  • translating strategies across databases

Note: This is a drop-in session (no need to register) that will be held in-person in our computer lab (LI-1003). Use one of our computers or bring your own.
